We’ve wanted to try a live blog from an Oregon State men’s basketball game this season at Gill Coliseum. We had scheduled one for Jan. 19, the OSU-UCLA game, but scrapped the plan Jan. 18 when it became apparent that the mid-valley flooding was going to take all of our resources. Instead of OSU-UCLA, we did a mid-valley flooding live blog that continued for nearly three days.
More than a month has gone by, and we’ve decided to do a live blog today (Sunday) from the Oregon-Oregon State Civil War at Gill. Tip-off is at 4:30 p.m.
Thanks to the schedulers, we’re combining two events in the blog. In addition to the Civil War updates, we’ll have the latest from the Academy Awards, which start at 4 p.m. with the red-carpet arrivals.
Entertainer writer Cory Frye, live blogging from Albany, will provide updates and commentary about the Academy Awards. Mike McInally, interim publisher of Mid-Valley Newspapers and G-T editor, will join in later. Mike listed his Oscar picks in the Feb. 24-March 2 Entertainer.
Kevin Hampton, who covers OSU men’s basketball for the G-T and D-H, and I will do the updates from Gill. We should have some game photos at halftime from photographer Jesse Skoubo. I plan to get there early for pre-game photos and videos. I want to ask the radio voice of the Beavers, Mike Parker, his
Oscar picks. If I’m lucky, I’ll get both Parker and his UO counterpart, Jerry Allen, together for some quick picks.
