I was down at work this morning posting the February edition of Oregon Outdoors to our websites. (The print version will be included with Monday’s Democrat-Herald and Gazette-Times).

Before I got started, I decided to
post the Associated
Press’ Livestream webcast of the funeral for Whitney Houston from New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J. The funeral was scheduled to start at 9 a.m. PDT, but when I checked at 8:45, the New Hope’s gospel choir was already singing.
I plugged in my headphones and started working — and listening. What a wonderful service of music and tributes to the 48-year-old singer who died a week ago today.
I especially enjoyed the music of Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys, and the remembrances by Kevin Costner and Clive Davis.
When I left work at 12:15 this afternoon, the funeral was still going. I saw the last few minutes at home. It ended at about 12:40, shortly after the casket bearing Houston’s body
was carried out of the church.

Why is it more and more about “loss” as we go along?
