It happens every Christmas.
We wake up, open the presents, have a late breakfast, snooze a bit, grow weary of listening to the same Christmas albums we’ve played for the past month, and then get the itch to get out of the house.
Today, instead of going to movie, we decided to take a hike at the Albany-Millersburg Talking Waters Gardens, the new 40-acre integrated wetlands system.
Nancy and I hiked there in mid-September. Our daughters Lisa and Anna had never seen it. We all enjoyed our hike and what we got to behold: Hundreds of ducks and other wetland birds.
It’s a great place for walking and birding. And I bet the paths of the Talking Water Gardens — several miles’ worth — will provide a future venue for cross country meets
and maybe some “road runs” throughout the year.
We encountered a bit of rain on our hike, but all
four of us agreed that it was great place to be on Christmas Day.
