Every evening when we eat dinner in the backyard we can hear but not see the warmups going on next door in Takena Park. The football players usually come into view once or twice while we’re sitting there.
Already in full gear, the players — who look about middle-school age — jog by just beyond our fence. They go around what used to be the wading pool and head along 10th Avenue toward Lawnridge Street, then finish their lap near 12th Avenue.
Footballs are flying at Takena Park and everywhere else, with peewees to pros getting ready for their openers. And like the players, we’re gearing up for the season too.
One of the things we’re working on is a new Beavers Sports mobile app that will pull all of the great OSU football coverage by Cliff Kirkpatrick and much more. It’s coming soon — hopefully by Aug. 30 and just in time for the opener at TCU.
