I had forgotten Thursday afternoon that the Takena Wading Pool was being removed. By the time I got to my house a few yards from the former pool, the job was done.
The concrete has been replaced by soil, which will soon be seeded with grass.
For the past year, there’s been talk about a spray feature going in this spot. Rob Romancier, the city’s recreation programs manager, has done a great job exploring two options, which range in price from about $100,000 to $180,000.
It will take a lot of fundraising to make either of those options happen. But I’ll stick with my earlier — and perhaps overly optimistic — prediction that kids will be playing in a new Takena Park “sprayground” in the summer of 2013.
